A Sitting Colour commission follows four distinct stages.

Stage 1.

Michelle can come to your home or work place to discuss the subject matter, size and preferred colours for the painting.
The type of furniture is also discussed.
It could be a stool, chair or chaise longue, for example, modern, contemporary, or antique.
Should the customer own a piece of furniture they would prefer to use, Michelle can customise it. Alternatively she can source the furniture.

Stage 2.

On completion of the painting, if the customer wishes to continue with the project, Michelle has the canvas photographed and the creative process continues. However this time, instead of using paints on canvas, elements of the painting are extracted to form a pattern on the computer. This can often take as much time as the actual process of the painting.

Stage 3.

While the first sample is sent off to the fabric printer, Michelle sources furniture and arranges to have the framework, seats and backs prepared and if necessary restored by an experienced upholsterer.
This may involve painting or staining and applying new castors or legs, customising with resins or mosaics. Once the first sample of printed fabric arrives at the studio, she checks all the colours and reworks the colour palette to ensure an exciting fabric that not only works in its own right but sits beautifully alongside the painting.

Stage 4.

With the furniture suitably prepared, the fabric is courtured onto the awaiting framework using professional upholsterers. On completion, the furniture is ready to place alongside the original painting.
